HOW TO PROGRAM A ROKU REMOTE

To program your Roku remote to control your TV, follow these steps based on the type of remote you have:

For Roku Voice Remote (with TV controls)

  1. Turn on Your TV: Ensure your TV is powered on.
  2. Access the Home Screen: Press the Homebutton on your Roku remote.
  3. Navigate to Settings:
    • Scroll down and select Settings.
    • Then, select Remote & devices.
  4. Select Remote:
    • Choose Set up remote for TV control.
  5. Follow On-Screen Instructions:
    • Select your TV brand from the list.
    • The Roku device will send commands to your TV to test compatibility.
    • Follow the prompts to confirm your TV’s power and volume settings.
  6. Complete Setup: Once the remote is successfully paired, it will control your TV’s power and volume.

For Standard Roku Remote

If your Roku remote does not have TV control buttons, it cannot be programmed to control your TV. You would need to use the original TV remote or a universal remote for that functionality.

Troubleshooting

  • If your TV doesn’t respond, ensure it’s compatible with Roku remotes.

Pairing Your Roku Remote to a Roku Device

(For Roku Streaming Players & Roku TVs)

For Roku Simple Remote 

✔️ Just point it directly at the Roku device and press buttons.
✔️ Make sure there are fresh batteries and nothing blocking the signal.

For Roku Voice Remote (With Pairing Button)

  1. Insert fresh batteriesinto the remote.
  2. Press & Hold the Pairing Button(inside the battery compartment) for 5 seconds until the light starts flashing.
  3. Wait for the TV to show a “Pairing Remote”
  4. After pairing, you can use the remote to navigate Roku menus.

If the pairing button is missing, try removing and reinserting the batteries or restart your Roku device.

Programming Roku Remote to Control TV Power & Volume

(For Roku Voice Remotes Only – Not Simple Remotes)

  1. Press Homeon the Roku remote.
  2. Go to Settings> Remotes & devices > Remotes.
  3. Select your remote and choose Set up remote for TV control.
  4. Roku will try to detect your TV brand automatically.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to test volume and power buttons.

If volume/mute don’t work, select Enter TV Brand Manually and follow the prompts.

Troubleshooting Roku Remote Issues

🔹 Remote Not Pairing? Try removing batteries, restarting Roku, or using the Roku app as a remote.
🔹 TV Power & Volume Not Working? Try reprogramming by entering your TV brand manually.
